Since rippin’ the ivories off the old upright in the basement at the age of 5 – Blaine has made music a major part of his life. It has lead him on a memorable journey - from his hometown of Victoria, KS to Nashville, TN and back. In high school, after mastering the keys, Blaine picked up the acoustic guitar and began learning tunes from several of his favorite artists and influences including: Garth, Buffet, Mellencamp, and Waylon. “American Pie” was his first and favorite song to strum and sing along to.
Before graduating, Blaine released his first CD. The CD, “Warmin’ Up”, was an acoustic CD with 10 original compositions. The favorite was “Summertime Times”. Which some radio play through The Y102 (Hays, KS) listening area, the song was sung by many and propelled Blaine to his next level on his musical journey.
After graduating college, Blaine moved on to Nashville to become closer to a dream. He polished his songwriting skills, tried to get to know the right people, and began to realize just how hard it is to make it in the music biz. Unprepared and overwhelmed, Blaine only spent a year in Music City. He moved back to Kansas City and picked up where he left off, playing acoustic shows at a handful of bars throughout the city and throughout Kansas.
Blaine then began exploring the idea of a band. He began contacting musicians, mostly from Western Kansas. Before you know it, Blaine moved home to be closer to his new band. They began practicing Blaine’s original music and several cover tunes. From a year of polishing and rotating musicians, was born The Blaine Younger Band. The “BYB” released a single to radio in 2005 called “Booze Cruizin’”.
Now touring regularly, both acoustically and with a band, Blaine Younger has released his second album called “Chasin’ A Tornado”. “The fans have been waiting a long time for this. It’s finally here!!” said Blaine of the release. Some great stories of life, love, and fun can be heard on Blaine’s second collection. Also, as always, you’ll hear references of Blaine’s Kansas roots in “Chasin’ A Tornado” and “Toto Take Me Home”.
