D.A.R.T. System virtual reality game.

Bring the whole family to test your skill and knowledge, with a firearm safety virtual reality training system. A Kansas Parks and Wildlife employee will be providing the youth directions on fire arms management through the DART video game. This system can be used to teach the user firearm safety, the user will experience situations that are as realistic as a simulator of this type can create. The sights and sounds are exciting, just as they are in the field. The decisions to shoot, pick your spot and instant feedback on shot placement are just a few of the elements built into the system. The firearms configurations use modified firearms with laser-sensing devices that allow the system to detect a shot and instantly respond to the shooter.

  • Cost. it is FREE
  • Time: DART System open at 11:00 - 3:00
  • Come and go as you please even play more then once.

Geocaching Contest

Geocaching is an entertaining adventure game for GPS users. Participating in a cache hunt is a good way to take advantage of the wonderful features and capability of a gps unit. The basic idea is to have individuals and organizations set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the internet. GPS users can then use the location coordinates to find the caches. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. All the visitor is asked to do is if they get something they should try to leave something for the cache.” For more information about geocaching visit www.geocaching.com

Participants in the 2010 Wetlanders Festival have a great opportunity to put their geocaching skills to use by entering our Geocaching Contest. Click here to find GPS coordinates for various Main Street businesses and an entry form for the contest. Identify which businesses these coordinates belong to, and you will be entered into a drawing for prizes. Completed entry forms must be submitted at the Hoisington Main Street Office, 115 N Main on or before Monday, April 27, 2009

After Hours Music
Rickie Fugitt opening for Blaine Younger Band

Growing up in Hoisington from 1967-1975, Main Street was the social life of town. Kids were dragging Main, Performing Chinese Fire Drills at the stop lights, honking your car horn at everybody going the opposite way, and most important listening to the best era of rock and roll in history on KOMA, Oklahoma City, fading in and out.

The Rockits will take you back to this time of good old rock and roll by playing songs by artists such as Steve Miller, Eagles, The Doobie Brothers, Badfinger, and ZZ Top just to name a few.

The band consists of: Mike Woodrow; lead guitar and high tenor vocals, playing since 1973. Curtis Johnson; lead guitar, keyboards, and baritone vocals, since 1981. Dwayne Detter; bass guitar and bass vocal, playing since 1967. Kirby Ricke; music director, sound technician, and tenor vocal since 1967. Ron Bailey; national champion drummer in 1971, playing since 1967.

Yeah, we've been playing these songs since they were new and it is still fun. So put on your Chuck Taylor's, put your hair in a pony tail, and let's rock! Visit Ronnie and The Rockits

  • Cost: Tickets are $5.00 at the door
