This year Hoisington is host to the World All-Around Waterfowl Calling Championship. This contest is held once every five years. Each contestant must perform four routines. One to call a Canada Goose, Snow Goose, Speckle-belly Goose and Meat Mallard Duck. Overall trophy awarded for the best caller. First place prize for each call category is $1000.00. Additional prizes for next four places. Come display your talents! Spectators are welcome and encouraged to attend. The indoor meet will start at 9:00 a.m. at the Hoisington City Auditorium located at 109 E 1st. Some of the best callers from far and wide will be in attendance. Bring your ear plugs and be prepared to hear songs of the waterfowl! Spectator viewing is free. Booths will also be set up to purchase calls from some of the most prestigious call makers across the U.S. All ages may enter the open contest. Entry fee is $150 if post-marked by April 1, 2008. After April 1, 2008 the fee is $200. Download the entry form, complete it and send it along with payment to HMSI.

Driving Directions to Hoisington:
From Denver, Colorado - Take I-70 east from Denver for approximately 5 hours or about 350 miles. At Russell, KS (exit #184) take Highway 281 South for about 22 miles till you come to a stop sign. Go east on Highway 4 for five miles till you arrive in Hoisington.
From Kansas City, KS - Take I-70 west from Kansas City for approximately 3 1/2 hours. At the Ellsworth, KS exit (#225) go South for about 36 miles till you find the Claflin exit to Highway 4. Go west on Highway 4 about 13 miles till you arrive in Hoisington.
From Wichita, KS - Take I-135 north from Wichita for approximately 1 hour. At the McPherson, KS exit (#60) go west on Highway 56 about 30 minutes till arriving in Lyons. At Lyons go north on Highway 96 about 15 minutes till arriving at a stop sign. Go west on Highway 4 about 30 minutes till you arrive in Hoisington.
Air Transportation:
The nearest major airport to Hoisington is Wichita, KS. For competitive rates, check AirTran. Upon arriving to Wichita a rental car would be needed as Wichita is approximately 2 hours drive to Hoisington.
Flying from the east into Kansas City. Upon arriving in Kansas City a rental car would then be needed. It is about a 4 hour drive to Hoisington from Kansas City. However, depending on connections a shuttle plane from Kansas City to Great Bend, KS can be obtained. Great Bend is about 25 minutes driving time to Hoisington.
Flying from the west into Denver. Upon arriving in Denver a rental car would then be needed. It is about a 5 1/2 hour drive to Hoisington from Denver. However, depending on connections a shuttle plane from Denver to Hays, KS can be obtained. Hays is about 45 minutes driving time to Hoisington.
